Spend a VIP week at Camp

Discover Camp is your child’s ticket to a fun (and animal) filled week. With games and crafts, guest speakers and plenty of time with the dogs and cats, campers learn all about responsible pet ownership and discover ways that they can help animals in our community. This fun and educational experience is perfect for the young animal-lover in your family.

Don’t miss out on this exciting experience!

Thanks you for joining us for the 2018 Camp sessions! Check back in spring for 2019 dates!

Q. What will my kids do at Discover Camp?
A. Camp is all about animals so we'll spend lots of time with them. An average camp day includes time with our shelter pets, education lessons, crafts, games and guest speakers!

Q. What are the camp hours?
A. Camp sessions run 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday

Q. When do I pick up and drop off?
A. We request that campers are dropped off no earlier than 9:50am and are picked up no later than 3:10. We don't provide pre or post camp care so it's very important to be on time.

Q. What is an average day at Camp like?
A. Great question! Every day at camp is different, but an average day looks something like this:

10:00-10:30 - Greeting/say hello to the dogs and cats
10:30-10:45 - Snack/break
10:45-11:00 - Game and education
11:00-12:00 - Craft
12:00-12:45 - Lunch and outside time
12:45-1:15 - Activity and education
1:15-2:00 - Guest Speaker
2:00-2:15 - Snack/break
2:15-2:45 - Hello to dogs and cats
2:45-3:00 - Clean up and goodbye

Q. Where is Camp located?
A. Most camp sessions are at our adoption center-shelter at 1100 NE 192nd Ave. We also go on field trips for camp, details for pick up and drop off for field trip days will be provided prior to camp.

Q. Can I register my child in several weeks of camp?
A. Curriculum for camp is repeated throughout the summer so we don't encourage families to enroll in multiple weeks. This also makes sure we have room for as many kids as possible.

Q. Do I have to be there each day?
A. We're pretty sure your child will be sad if they're not! Missing a day means your child misses out on camp fun, but if you can't be there just let our staff know.

Q. Do the kids get to spend time with real animals?
A. Of course! Every day starts with a "hello" to our shelter animals and many of our lessons involve interactions with animals as well. When possible, we also have a dog or cat (or special guest animals) join us in the classroom.

Q. What should my child wear?
A. Kids should dress in clothes that are comfortable (and ones that can handle a little dog slobber or cat hair). It's important to wear closed-toe shoes and long pants every day. We spend time outside so kids should also have a hat with them.

Q. What is your cancellation policy?
A. We hope nobody has to cancel, but we ask that cancellations happen no less than 2 weeks prior to the start of camp so we can have time to recruit new campers. Camp payments will be refunded less a $50 administrative fee. If a cancellation happens less than 2 weeks before camp, no refund will be provided.

Q. What should my child bring?
A. Each child should bring a lunch to camp. Refrigeration is available. We discourage bringing anything that requires a microwave. Children should also bring a reusable water bottle.
