Rehoming Your Pet

Family Dynamics

Finding a New Home

Making the decision to find a new home for your pet is difficult and emotional. We're here to help. HSSW is the only open-admission shelter in Clark County and we accept companion animals regardless of health or disposition. All healthy, adoptable animals remain here at HSSW until they meet their new family.

If You Need to Surrender Your Pet

Please make an appointment. Our staff wants to take the time to learn about your pet and his or her lifestyle and individual needs. Making an appointment allows us to be prepared to best support you and your pet.

The first step in the process is to complete the form below. Our staff will review your request and contact you to learn more about your pet and his or her circumstances.

Please note: submitting the form above does not guarantee an appointment will be available. Please refrain from bringing your pet to HSSW without a scheduled appointment.

If you prefer, call us at 360.213.2621. If you need to leave a message, your call will be returned.

Surrender fees apply when surrendering your pet. These fees help us provide care, shelter, and food to your pet while he or she is in our care. Fees may vary, but average $50-$75 (cats) $50-$155 (dogs).

Tell us about your pet. Information about your pet's lifestyle helps our staff find the best home and family possible for your pet. Please download and complete the form below and bring it to your scheduled appointment.

If your animal is coming from out of state, he or she must be accompanied by a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and proof of current Rabies vaccination. Washington State law prohibits us from accepting animals without this documentation.
