Estimate the kittens' age by what they look like

Eyes closed or barely open = 0-2 weeks old

Eyes open and alert; becoming mobile = 2-4 weeks old

Mobile & often talkative, can eat food = 4-6 weeks old

Very active & playful, around 1-2lbs = 6-8 weeks old

Very active & playful, 2lbs. and over = 8 + weeks old

Can you see the litter's nest or hiding spot?

Are you willing to take full responsibility for the kittens including providing care and paying for veterinary costs?

Gently return the kittens to the nest where the mama cat can provide care.

Gently return the kittens to the nest where the mama cat can provide care. As long as there are not immediate threats to their health or safety, the kittens are better off with their mom than they are at the shelter or with a foster.

When the kittens reach 6-8 weeks of age, bring them (and mom!) to the shelter to be spayed/nuetered.
